Cranbrook is encouraging residents to do their part in water conservation through its sprinkler timer and rain barrel rebate program.
Each household can get a $50 rebate on programmable above-ground sprinkler timers or rain barrels.
Rebates are given on a first-come-first-serve basis with a limit of one per household.
The City says applications are only valid for rain barrels or sprinkler times purchased on or after January 1, 2025.
Programmable sprinkler timers can make watering your lawn and garden easier while helping to save water.
“Programmable above-ground sprinkler timers can be set up to water your lawn or garden based on the City’s current water restriction stage,” said the City.
“These timers are connected to your outdoor tap and controls the start and stop of water flow to your hose.”
Rain barrels also offer a great option for conserving Cranbrook’s drinking water.
“Rain barrels collect rainwater from buildings and rooftops to be used at later times. This water can be used for outdoor irrigation, reducing the need to use treated water from the tap,” said the City.
Residents who received the rain barrel rebate in the past are eligible for a programmable sprinkler timer rebate, but not another rain barrel rebate.
“This offer is only for owners of existing residential buildings with a valid occupancy permit, property taxes in good standing, located within the municipal boundaries of the City of Cranbrook and connected to the municipal water systems.
Applications can be dropped off or mailed to City Hall with proof of purchase and a photo of the installed barrel or timer.
