Mohammad Abbas Wafa is facing six charges following an incident in the Tamarack Mall parking lot.
Police responded to a mischief and weapons complaint at around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning on 4th Street North.
Police say they received another report alleging a man brandished a knife in a threatening manner at a Victoria Avenue business.
Officers were able to locate a suspect who fled to the Tamarack Mall parking lot.
“During the apprehension and subsequent processing, the male suspect is alleged to have assaulted the arresting officers, both of whom sustained injuries,” said S/Sgt. Kris Clark.
Wafa has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of obstructing a police officer, one count of mischief and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was held for court and has since been released on conditions.
Wafa is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 3.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to speak with police.
