BC Builds approval was the highlight of 2024 for Elkford Mayor Steve Fairbairn and the construction is what he’s looking forward to most in 2025.
An Elkford property was added to the BC Builds program in April of 2024.
“It’s right in our downtown core, right in the middle of our revitalization project that we’ve just completed,” said Fairbairn.
“It’s perfectly positioned. It’s within walking distance of the clinic, the mall and our large park area.”
He’s hoping the ground will be broken this spring.
“The biggest thing is the BC Builds project If that gets off the ground and we see surveyors on the land and shovels in the ground when the frost goes in the Spring that will be very exciting,” Fairbairn added.
“That’s a major development four floors of rental apartments and retail and commercial space so if that gets going that will be spectacular.”
The BC Builds program helps fast-track developments.
He says they will be looking to take advantage of the provincial program again in the future.
