Elkford has been working on its new official community plan and it’s starting to make its way through council.
The last OCP has been in place for nearly 14 years and Mayor Steve Fairbairn says a lot has changed since then, but nothing out of the ordinary.
“Nothing really surprised me,” he said.
“I was very pleased with the comprehensiveness of the document. You can see the difference a decade and a half makes.”
The new document will guide the community for the next 20 years.
Fairbairn says it showcases what land is available for development.
“It will open up a lot of eyes to how much property is available and where it’s available for development,” he added.
“Going forward it gives the district updated information on the condition of our infrastructure and future planning and future-proofing.”
Council heard a presentation on the draft OCP earlier this month during a committee of the whole meeting.
It will be going through council for approval in the near future.
The full draft OCP can be found here.
