Elk Valley RCMP says one person died after a collision on Highway 43 north of Sparwood on Saturday.
Police say the crash involved a southbound pickup truck with five occupants and a northbound transport truck.
One fatality was confirmed but there is no word yet on the status of the other occupants.
Police are still determining a cause but note there was inclement weather at the time of the collision with mixed snow and rain.
Highway 43 was closed for roughly two hours.
According to Drive BC, a vehicle recovery will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. today. Single-lane alternating traffic will be in place.
