Power has been restored for 196 BC Hydro customers in Elkford who were left in the dark for over eight hours due to a vehicle accident.
The accident on Tuesday morning also led to the closure of Highway 43 between Alpine Way and Intata Road, south of Elkford’s residential area.
The highway was fully closed to traffic until first responders cleared the scene.
Highway 43 was reopened as a single-lane alternating roadway while BC Hydro crews worked to repair the damaged power line.
The District of Elkford reported a power bump that knocked out their phone lines the same morning. The District’s phone service was restored by early afternoon.
According to BC Hydro, the power went out at 9:53 a.m. and came back on at 6:30 p.m.
