The Kimberley Dynamiters will be looking to rebound from their last weekend and will try to do that during their parents weekend.

Last weekend the Dynamiters lost 10-1 to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks and 7-6 in overtime to the Nelson Leafs.

Head coach Derek Stuart says they weren’t as bad as the scoreboard showed but they will need to be better.

“I thought Friday wasn’t a 10-1 game but it was a game that Beaver Valley deserved to win so the score is kind of irrelevant at this point,” he said.

“Saturday I thought we were good. The first period was even and in the second and third periods, we pretty much dominated and deserved to win that game quite handily. it was a tough result to swallow but I liked how we played.”

He says their parents weekend coming will be a great motivator to get the team back in the win column as they face the in-division Columbia Valley Rockies and Golden Rockets.

“It’s important to wrap up some points when we have an opportunity against anyone in our division,” he said.

“It’s our parents weekend as well this weekend so our guys should have no problems motivation-wise.”

Stuart says they’ll also be getting one of their top defencemen back from injury.

“Trey Stephenson has been cleared to return so we’ll work him in as we see fit, but no other glaring injuries.”

The Dynamiters are 13-3-2 on the season for first in the Eddie Mountain Division and second in the league.
