Bucks adjust to new division and Alberta teams

With the inclusion of former Alberta Junior Hockey League teams into the BCHL the Cranbrook Bucks were moved into a new division and have been seeing early success.

Bucks head coach Ryan Donald says there wasn’t a whole lot to adjust to because hockey is hockey.

“It’s an exciting time in our league’s history to bring on those teams and to be one of the teams that sees a lot of them,” he said.

“Overall it’s still 200 by 85, the pucks the same size, the nets the same size and you’re playing against good hockey players on the other side.”

He says the travel isn’t that different but it is nice avoiding the time change.

“From a travel perspective, it’s very similar to what we’ve done, but we do save the time change by going into Alberta which is nice,” he said.

The Bucks are second in the Interior East division with a 9-3 record and third in the Eastern Conference.
