The Fernie Ghostriders are hoping last weekend’s success continues as they prepare to face two in-division opponents.
The Ghostriders were firing on all cylinders last weekend with back-to-back 9-1 wins against the Quesnel River Rush and Williams Lake Mustangs.
“We did a lot of things right last weekend despite what the scores ended up being. I was happy with the majority of both games, we played well, we did the right things and I think we’re starting to buy into the system a bit more,” said assistant coach Dante Raposo.
“We’re getting contributions from everybody in the lineup, rather than just some guys.”
He says they need to keep it up this weekend especially since they’re facing two in-division teams.
They start the weekend with a match against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on the road on Friday.
“We had a really good game against Creston when we played them last time, it went into overtime,” Raposo added.
“They’re coming off of a really big weekend for themselves, they just beat Kimberley in overtime. They’re going to be no slouch.”
They’ll finish back at home on Saturday against the Columbia Valey Rockies.
“Our first matchup against Columbia Valley on Saturday will be good as well. These games are important for us because they’re in division games and we need the points,” he said.
“We were a little slow off the start and gave away a few points but now we really need to buckle down and get as many points as we possibly can.”
The Ghostriders are 5-2-1-1 on the season for fourth in the Eddie Mountain Division.
