The City of Cranbrook implemented a number of water-saving initiatives this summer and overall consumption was down.
Despite snowpack levels being roughly 52 per cent of normal and a 20 per cent flow reduction in the creeks that fill the Phillips Reservoir, the city was able to maintain its water service.
This year the city limited irrigation of sports fields, spray pad operating hours and dust control.
They also started off the season with Stage 2 water restrictions.
“Overall the Phillips Reservoir stayed full or near full for the majority of the summer,” said public works director Jason Perrault.
“We had a total savings of 32,462,700 imperial gallons.”
He says the residents also did their part in using less water.
“The citizens of Cranbrook made it possible to have enough water for quality and quantity. We want to congratulate them on a job well done,” Perrault said.
Stage 2 watering restrictions were able to be lifted on Sept. 11.
