Thousands vote early in the Kootenays ahead of provincial election

Advanced voting has come to an end and according to Elections BC, the five Kootenay area ridings have seen 29.2 percent of the total registered voter number cast an early ballot.

  • Boundary-Similkameen 12,832   (33.5 percent of registered voters)
  • Columbia River-Revelstoke 8,336   (27.2 percent of registered voters)
  • Kootenay-Central 9,579    (28.8 percent of registered voters)
  • Kootenay-Monashee 6,768   (21 percent of registered voters)
  • Kootenay-Rockies 10,860   (35.1 percent of registered voters)

Across the province, there have been 1,001,331 advance votes, with October 16 having the most votes ever on an advanced voting day in a BC election.

That is 28.2 percent of the 3,550,017 registered voters across the BC, the highest record of advanced voting for the province.

The provincial general voting day is on Saturday, October 19, with free transit across the Kootenays, including handyDART.
