Sparwood council approves contract for community hall roof replacement

Sparwood’s community hall will be getting its roof replaced as council has awarded a contract worth almost $250,000.

Council approved $245,949 for C&H Roofing to do the work and set aside $44,750 for roofing inspection for a total project budget of $290,699.

Money was originally set aside to replace the roof of the curling centre.

“Upon recognizing the critical failures in the community hall roof, the roof replacement budget for the curling rink was then moved to the community hall,” said community services director Jenna Jenson.

While the roof of the curling centre needs replacement, Jenson says they believe it can get through the year with no leaks.

The cost of that project will be included in the 2025 budget.

The district is anticipating that the roof replacement on the community hall can be completed by the winter.
