Voters across B.C. can cast their ballots ahead of the 2024 provincial election with early polling stations set to open on Thursday.
Early voting will be open from Oct. 10 to 13 and again on Oct. 15 and 16.
Advance polling places will be open in the following locations:
- Kootenay-Rockies:
- Cranbrook, Heritage Inn – 803 Cranbrook Street North.
- Jaffray, Sand Creek Senior’s Centre – 7205 Rosen Lake Road.
- Fernie, Seniors Drop-In Centre – 562 3rd Avenue.
- Sparwood, Senior’s Centre – 101 4th Avenue.
- Elkford, Community Conference Centre – 750 Fording Drive.
- Columbia River-Revelstoke:
- Kimberley, Centennial Hall – 100 4th Avenue.
- Invermere, Columbia Valley Centre – 646 4th Street.
- Invermere, Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce – 651 Highway 93/95.
- Golden, Civic Centre – 806 10th Avenue South.
- Revelstoke, Community Centre – 600 Campbell Avenue.
All early polling stations will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time.
In Kootenay-Rockies, voters have four candidates to choose from: incumbent Tom Shypitka (Independent), Kerri Wall (BC Green Party), Pete Davis (BC Conservative Party) and Sam Atwal (BC NDP).
Meanwhile, Columbia River-Revelstoke has three candidates in the running: Calvin Beauchesne (BC Green Party), Andrea Dunlop (BC NDP) and Scott McInnis (BC Conservative Party).
Voters must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old, and a resident of B.C. since at least April 18, 2024.
You can cast your ballot by presenting one piece of photo ID such as a B.C. driver’s licence or B.C. Service Card or two pieces of ID or documents both showing your name.
Elections BC says all voters must prove their identity and residential address before casting their ballots.
You can also request a vote-by-mail package online or over the phone until Oct. 13. Vote-by-mail packages can also be requested and picked up in person at a district electoral office.
Elections BC must receive mail-in ballots by 8 p.m. on general election day, which is set for Oct. 19.
