Rockets ready for out of division opponents

The Golden Rockets have a two-game homestand this weekend welcoming the Nelson Leafs and Chase Heat.

Head coach Jed Houseman says the team will have their work cut out for them.

“Nelson is off to a good start and they always play a tight game and are sound defensively,” he said.

“These are two games that we ultimately need to find a way to win if we’re going to be pushing in this league. I’m excited about the matchup and we’re ready to go.’

The Rockets are coming off of a loss last weekend, losing 3-2 in overtime to the Columbia Valley Rockies.

While they didn’t get the two points Houseman was happy that they tied the game and at least got the overtime point.

“We were squeezing the sticks a little tight in the first period. Once we got that out of our system we played much better,” he said.

“I liked our character storming back in the third period. It was good to see some rally but we ultimately came up short.”

Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
