The Columbia Valley Rockies have wrapped up their preseason games and are now looking ahead to the 2024/25 KIJHL regular season.
Head coach and GM Tayler Sencennes said they have some players to keep an eye out for this year.
“I think a couple of our returning players like Carter Velker and Bryan Kim will have big years,” he said.
“Chance Cole coming in on the back end, he’s from Moose Jaw. He’s a little skilled D-man. I think he’s going to be pretty good.”
There may still be some lineup changes before the start of the regular season.
“We had two or three guys away at Junior A camps so it will be a matter if they filter back into the lineup or not,” Sincennes added.
“There is an opportunity for there to be a decent amount of change between now and the start of the regular season but there are some things that need to fall into place before that happens.”
While confident in the teams’ skill, Sencennes isn’t predicting a Teck Cup win just yet.
“It’s tough to make that guarantee in September but I think we can make a good push for it.”
The Rockies had a successful preseason winning three out of four games.
They’ll open the regular season on Sept. 20 with a home game against the Golden Rockets followed by a match against the Dynamiters in Kimberley the next day.
