Cranbrook council mulling over RV development

The City of Cranbrook has received an application for an OCP amendment to allow for an RV park at 2340 34th Avenue North.

Council is not convinced that an RV Park is the best choice for that land as it could make for suitable housing down the road.

Councilor Ron Popoff said he’s not entirely opposed to the idea if there’s a focus on permanent housing, but needs to hear more from the developer.

“Park models are commonly used as permanent residences, but they are designed differently, insulated differently and safer from fire and other things,” he said.

“If that is part of the vision that the developer has, now we’re getting into housing. That to me would be something worth pursuing.”

The proposal didn’t include information on the number of camp sites, roadways, amenities, servicing and access and egress.

Council has deferred the proposal to a future council meeting to give the developer a chance to provide more information.
