Hockey in the Rockies has returned for another year teaching the next generation of hockey players how to excel on and off the ice.
Instructor and former Kootenay Ice player Colin Sinclair said it’s been a good camp so far.
“It’s been a great group of kids this year and great instructors,” he said.
“At the end of the day this is all about having fun. It’s easy for us as instructors to coach them because they are so into the game and so disciplined.”
Former NHL player Don Murdoch said the program has been running for about 15 years now and kids keep coming back.
“We’ve had kids that come to this school at six years old and are still in the school at ten,” he added.
“Obviously we’re doing something great.”
Those taking part in the hockey school this week will be learning the on-ice basics including power skating, passing and shooting as well as the theory of hockey by learning different zones.
The week will be capped off with a game on Friday.
