Cranbrook’s Mia Molnar and Fernie’s Felicia Smith have come home from the 2024 Canada Cup with a gold medal.
The team was put together after multiple weeks of tryouts and training at Thompson Rivers University.
The B.C. team went undefeated over the weekend tournament and beat the Alberta Black team 3-2 in the final.
Molnar said every game was difficult.
“They were all a little tricky. some trickier than others, but we were undefeated in every match and we ended up taking first.”
Molar will be trying out for the U18 team next year.
“Especially coming from a small town it’s really a challenge, but it was such a good experience and I should hopefully have a good shot at it next year for the U18 team.”
After that, she hopes to continue volleyball in her post-secondary education.
“That’s definitely my biggest goal. Get out of Cranbrook and see what it’s like. I could play somewhere big and go to university maybe even out of the country.”
