The City of Fernie has installed new signs warning residents about multiple dangerous logjams near town on the Elk River.
There is a log jam near the Stanford Inn on the left of the river and behind the transfer station.
Fernie Search and Rescue is recommending that floaters stick to bridge to bridge.
You should always wear a life jacket and SAR encourages having a watercraft that can be steered.

If you successfully get to shore but lose your watercraft, you’re asked to contact the RCMP or SAR so they don’t waste resources looking for someone in trouble.
