A grass fire near Moir Park is out after a quick response from Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services.
The detachment was called out at approximately 2:00 p.m. on July 9 to a fire located at the Moir Park lands off Industrial Road G.
Initially, four firefighters responded to the call but an additional six members were brought in.
“At this time the fire is believed to be human-caused,” said Deputy Director of Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services Dan MacKinnon.
“There were no reported injuries to the public, however, one of our firefighting members was taken to the hospital as a precaution due to the extreme heat and firefighting conditions.”
The fire grew to approximately 200 feet by 200 feet, starting in the grass before spreading to old logging debris.
Crews remained on the scene into the evening to make sure it was fully extinguished.
