Toxic and invasive black henbane plants have been found in Kimberley, and the East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC) is asking you to report all sightings.
EKISC officials say this is the first time black henbane has been confirmed in the East Kootenay.
The plant is toxic to humans and animals, it can harbour major crop pests and prevent native plant growth by creating dense shade and leaf litter.
EKISC officials say the plant is covered in hairs, with a tough, upright stem and large foul-smelling leaves.
Its flowers are typically pale yellow with deep purple veins and throats, which also bring an unpleasant odour.
According to the EKISC, it can spread many seeds at once and, like many other invasive species, can be difficult to eradicate once it becomes established.
