Sparwood council has approved an OCP amendment that would allow more multi-family residential development at 1500 Sparwood Heights Drive.
Back in early 2023, the zoning was changed to allow a mix of single-family residential and multi-family residential before the land was sold to New Dawn Developments.
The developer is now looking to have a larger area for multi-family and make the single-family area smaller.
Mayor David Wilks said it would bring in much-needed duplexes and fourplexes.
“I think this is a good move forward for the district of Sparwood,” he said.
“Certainly, something that we need in Sparwood is a lot of multi-use family stuff whether it’s duplexes or fourplexes. I am fully in support of this.”
A public hearing was held on June 4 and the district received no comments on the proposal.
