A Cranbrook man has died following collision on Highway 3 by the Nancy Green Junction near Rossland on Thursday, June 13.
Trail RCMP Detachment Commander Mike Wicentowich says officers were called to the scene around 3pm where a motorcycle has collided with a commercial truck.
“A 65 -year -old Cranbrook man was riding his motorcycle westbound on Highway 3 when he attempted to pass a commercial transport truck.” said Wicentowich.
“A witness reported that the motorcycle had struck a part of the commercial transport truck while passing, and unfortunately, he and his motorcycle fell underneath the truck as a result of the contact.”
“The man was believed to have been killed instantly.”
The Cranbrook man was believed to be travelling with his brother and another companion at the time.
The truck driver was uninjured in the incident and charges are not expected to be laid.
The Highway was closed for several hours while the investigation was underway.
RCPM are urging resident to be safe and smart on the roads.
“Let’s just stay safe out there.” said Wicentowich.
“This is another tragedy in our Kootenay roadways involving the motorcycle.
“We are asking everyone to take your time to get to your destinations and drive defensively this summer.”
“We all share the roads and we need to look out for each other to prevent future incidents like this.”
