A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for multiple areas in the East Kootenay.
Environment Canada said the Cranbrook, Invermere and Elk Valley areas are under the watch.
Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms, with strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Residents are encouraged to remain indoors once lightning starts as Canadians are killed or injured every year.
