Byram point per game to start IIHF

Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram has had a strong start to the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship.

Byram has recorded an assist in each of Canada’s first two matchups in the preliminary round of the tournament.

Canada opened up the tournament against Great Britain on May 11, winning 4-2.

Byram set up Michael Bunting in the first period for Canada’s first goal of the competition.

He also helped his new Buffalo Sabres teammate Dylan Cozens get a goal in the team’s last game against Denmark.

“Johnny Tavares won the faceoff, Bowen Byram made the play down to him and then Johnny made a great pass to me and I just tried to keep it simple and shoot as quick as I could and it found its way in the net,” said Cozens in a release.

They went on to win 5-1 to remain undefeated so far. They will look to keep that up today as they face Austria at 12:20 p.m.

The tournament is being held in Prague, Czechia and runs until May 26.
