Firefighters have gained control of a wildfire that broke out near Kragmont, south of Baynes Lake.
Crews from the Jaffray, Baynes Lake and Elko Fire Departments were on the scene after the fire was spotted on Saturday.
“15 firefighters from the Jaffray, Baynes Lake and Elko Fire Departments have been on the scene since mid-afternoon when the fire was called in,” said RDEK officials.
Officials with the Regional District of East Kootenay said a piece of heavy equipment was used to build a machine guard around the perimeter.

Control of the 5-hectare blaze held was handed off to the BC Wildfire Service on Saturday evening.
The fire broke out near Fitzpatrick Road and Highway 93.
