UPDATE: RCMP Confirm One Fatality in Highway 3 Motorcycle Collision (July 18, 2019)

Highway 3 was closed around 5:00 pm Wednesday due to a “vehicle incident” approximately 11 kilometres north of Moyie, but was reopened around 1:15 am after emergency authorities cleared the scene.
Drive BC reported a “vehicle incident” took place at Monroe Lake Road by Moyie Lake Provincial Park around 5:00 pm.
Vehicles on scene reported that the collision included fatalities, although that has yet to be officially confirmed by Cranbrook RCMP or RCMP East Kootenay Traffic Services at this time.
It’s expected that the RCMP will release more details about the incident later in the day on Thursday.
As of 1:15 am, Highway 3 is fully open to traffic after closing for several hours and being single lane alternating for most of the evening.
