Cranbrook RCMP confirm a car is on fire near Lumberton along Highway 3 as emergency services are currently on the scene.
According to DriveBC, the highway is once again clear after officials contended with the fire.
The highway was under traffic control for several hours while crews worked to contain the flames and remove the vehicle.
RCMP said to MyEastKootenayNow.com that it’s too early to release further details at the moment.
“There is a fire out that way and members are on scene,” confirmed Staff Sgt. Barry Grahm with Cranbrook RCMP.
Emergency crews are on scene and are actively responding to the incident.
At this time, there is no word on how the car ignited or if there are any injuries.
