FWCP Action Plans Available for Public Review

British Columbia’s Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCP) in the Columbia Region has prepared draft Action Plans, which are available for a final review from the public.

Guiding decision-making and project funding decisions, the Action Plans are meant to support the viability of rivers, wetlands, reservoirs, and both small and large lakes in the region, including those that may have species at risk.

Including the goals and preferences of First Nations affected by the Action Plans, they seek to outline the ecological priorities for the Columbia Region over the next five years.

The updated draft Action Plans are available for review by the public until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6th which include the following five plans:

Anyone seeking a grant from the FWCP in the future would have to align their project with the updated plans.

All of the input received will then be reviewed and considered by the Columbia Region Board before the Action Plans are finalized in mid-August 2019 and available for the FWCP’s annual grant intake.

The FWCP is a partnership between the Province of B.C., Fisheries and Oceans Canada, BC Hydro, First Nationa, and public stakeholders that looks to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife in watersheds impacted by BC Hydro dams.
