The Cranbrook Fire Department responded to two small wildfires near city boundaries over the weekend, with the assistance of Cranbrook RCMP and the BC Wildfire Service.
According to Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services, the first wildfire was reported north of town by Cranbrook RCMP on Saturday morning. The BC Wildfire Service reported that wildfire as being 0.1 hectares in size at the end of Hoffman Road, across Highway 95A from Mission Hills Golf Course. Emergency crews fully extinguished the fire.
Later Saturday afternoon, the Cranbrook Fire Department was yet again called out to another reported wildfire.
At this time, it is unclear exactly where the second wildfire was reported or how large an area was affected.
Unfortunately we are at another wildfire this afternoon, again it appears to be human caused and very close to a neighborhood. Please use caution and put your campfires out completely. We all want to enjoy the summer now that it has arrived. #Cranbrook pic.twitter.com/ZURuGOJ1eq

Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services are reminding the public to be vigilant with all campfires, especially as the BC Wildfire Service has since implemented a Category 2 open burning ban across the Southeast Fire Centre.

Thanks to our local RCMP detachment for reporting a small interface fire just north of town. Staff were able to locate and extinguish the fire before it grew and put our community at risk. We are glad to be part of such a great Emergency Response community. #Cranbrook #RCMP pic.twitter.com/JRIX4BG0qY
