Four East Kootenay wakesurfers reached the podium in Alberta over the weekend as part of the Centurion Absolut Waterproof Tour Canada Stop at Lake Chestermere.
Caroline Villeneuve, competing in the Pro Women’s Skim Division, finished second after a strong showing in Day 2 of competition. Villeneuve is a member of the H20 School on Lake Koocanusa.
Meanwhile, Jaffray’s Cassidy Boehm took first place in the Women’s Amateur Skim Division, putting together a solid set of runs to win her category.
Ryder and Dagen Duczek would also finish first in their respective divisions. Ryder was competing for the first time in the semi-pro Outlaw Men’s Skim Division while Dagen was competing amongst U12 riders in the Junior Division.
At Lake Chestermere, the Waterproof Tour Canada Stop featured riders from across the world including Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States.
The next competition for the East Kootenay athletes is Alberta Provincials as the Duczek brothers will be competing in not only wakesurf but also wakeskate and wakeboard events as part of the Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta Alberta Wake Tour Series.
