The city of Fernie has awarded a contract to Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. to complete the 2025 roads projects.
The contract was worth $934,450.
Work includes a rehabilitation of Canyon Trail and Cedar Avenue from Highway 3 to Bossio Road.
Crews will be removing a known gap in the city’s pedestrian network.
A multi-use pathway will be reconstructed adjacent
to the roadway from Highway 3 to Canyon Trail and separated by a concrete barrier.
Construction is slated to begin in July and is expected to be substantially completed by Sept. 15.
Canyon Trail and Cedar Avenue will cause disruptions the neighbourhoods of Alpine Trails, Parkland Terrace, and Bossio Road.
A detour will be available through West Fernie and up Burma Road.
