Elk Valley RCMP is asking the public to be on the lookout for a woman who has been missing since Friday, April 11, 2025.
Police officials say Barbara Currier was reported missing on Monday, April 14 by a concerned family member.
Currier was last heard from at around 9 a.m. on Friday when she left her home in Fernie for a doctor’s appointment.
She said she would return after her appointment and left in a black 2012 Dodge Journey, but has not been seen since.
Police say Currier was last seen wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a loose hoodie, but left her wallet and cell phone at home. She may walk with a limp and have a growth on the underside of her arm that can be visible under clothing.
Elk Valley RCMP officials say this is unusual behaviour for Currier and her family is concerned for her wellbeing.
“Police have spoken with a number of friends, witnesses, hospitals and health authorities and have checked video at a number of locations in the Fernie area in an attempt to locate Barbara or a pathway of travel for her vehicle. Financial records have been investigated since the file’s outset,” said Elk Valley RCMP.
Anyone with information on Currier’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Elk Valley RCMP at 250-425-6233 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with reference to Barbara Currier or file number 2025-1024.
