Elkford’s new official community plan (OCP) is one step closer to reality as the draft document will soon be available for another round of public review.
Mayor Steve Fairbairn says the original 15-year-old OCP is showing its age.
“The economy of the town has shifted, the world is a different place and it’s a completely different community,” said Fairbairn.
“It’s well and due for an update and a renewal.”
The document was made using public feedback on what residents want to see in the community.
The OCP will help guide council decisions in the future and Fairbairn says the District wants to hear from young people in particular.
“We’re hoping to get the opinions and views of the next generation,” said Fairbairn.
“We’re looking forward to 20 years in the future, so we want to know what the next generation wants to see.”
The District will host a public hearing on April 28 at 4:45 p.m. in the municipal office’s council chambers.
You can submit written comments by email, mail or in person by 4:30 p.m. on April 28.
Elkford officials say this round of public consultation will be the last time before it is up for adoption.
