A flock of 100 Bird e-scooters are back in Cranbrook and the city is giving residents a refresher on scooter safety.

City staff say riders must travel in bike lanes or on roads only, E-scooters are not allowed on sidewalks at any time.

Helmets are required and only one person can be on a scooter at a time.

While use on sidewalks isn’t permitted, scooters can be used on active transportation corridors or multi-use  pathways.

However, riders must notify pedestrians and other pathway users that you are coming with a bell or horn.

The e-scooters are allowed in most areas of the community, but there are a few no-ride zones.

That includes around the hospital, highways, city parks and golf courses.
