Dynamiters blow up Thunder Cats’ playoff dream

The Kimberley Dynamiters are moving on to the second round of the playoffs after defeating the Creston Valley Thunder Cats in six games.

The Nitros one the first two game at home but lost their footing and let the Thunder Cats tie the series up at two games apiece.

“I think it was a good reminder to us that we can’t take things for granted,” said Dynamiters head coach Derek Stuart.

“I thought games three and four, although they played more desperate, It was mainly a result of us not playing the way we need to play.”

The Dynamiters came back and won the next two games to clinch the series over the weekend.

“We sorted it out and I told the guys whether you win in four or six I don’t really care,” Stuart added.

“We advanced and that was our goal.”

The Nitros have been getting some strong offensive output from their forward group.

Stuart says two players especially stood out.

“I thought Danik Reeves and Billy Kiray were excellent in every game, even the two that we lost.”

Reeves has five goals and three assists in six games, leading all players still in the playoffs.

The Dynamiters will face the Columbia Valley Rockies in Round 2. that series begins on Friday.
