Non-Profits partner to purchase ultrasounds for East Kootenay Regional Hospital

The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) have partnered to purchase two portable ultrasounds for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

One device will go to the Intensive Care Unit and the other will go to the Emergency Department.

“They keep patients from having to be transported from the ICU and Emergency Departments to medical imaging for results,” said the EKFH.

“This saves time, space, and provides quicker results to physicians. It is a wonderful improvement for staff and patients that will help save lives.”

The EKFH says each unit costs over $71,000, with the money coming from fundraising efforts from both non-profit organizations.

“We are so thankful for our donors. This project was made possible because of the generosity of donors who have received excellent care in the ICU. We also thank our healthcare workers for the amazing job they do every single day,” said EKFH Executive Director, Brenna Hong.

The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that raises money to purchase medical equipment through donations and its gift and thrift shops.

“We are very thankful to our community who continue to support the auxiliary in its mission,” said President Linda Foster.
