Playoffs are approaching in the KIJHL as teams prepare for the final two weekends of the regular season.
The Kimberley Dynamiters are on the road this weekend to face the Osoyoos Coyotes and Kelowna Rockets.
Head coach Derek Stuart says it’s good to get one last road trip in.
“It will be good for us to get one last regular season overnight road trip in and play two teams we haven’t played,” he said.
“We’re all looking forward to it here.”
Fernie Ghostriders head coach Chad Scharff shared the same sentiment as they get ready to face the Princeton Posse as well as the Coyotes.
“A really good test, he said.
“Princeton is at the top of the league and we’ll see how we match up there. It’s good for us to get out on the road and get away from things here for a weekend.”
The Creston Valley Thunder Cats also head out of town this weekend to face the Spokane Braves south of the border before heading to Nelson to take on the Leafs.
The Golden Rockets and Columbia Valley Rockies are having a home-and-home series this weekend.
The Rockets are desperately trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and Rockies head coach Tayler Sincennes says they need to be prepared for them to go all out.
“We have to expect that now. We’re a few weeks from the postseason so everyone is going to be trying to ramp up and bring their best,” he said.
“They have a little more to fight for as they try to get that last playoff spot.”
Currently, the Dynamiters are still sitting first in the Eddie Mountain Division with 61 points.
The Ghostriders have 56 and are still trying to jump into first by the end of the season.
The Rockies round out the last of Eddie mountain teams that have clinched the playoffs with their 48 points.
The Rockets and Thunder Cats are neck in neck with 32 and 31 points respectively.
