Cranbrook RCMP has apprehended two men previously highlighted through the detachment’s Wanted Wednesday program.

RCMP officials say they arrested 50-year-old Kenneth Leverington, who was wanted on an endorsed warrant for possession of stolen property, and 40-year-old Daniel Edward McMillan, who was wanted on an unendorsed warrant for driving while prohibited.

S/Sgt. Barry Graham says the Wanted Wednesday program has been a big success for the Cranbrook RCMP.

“These are difficult situations with people we’ve been trying to track down for quite some time, but out of the eight we’ve highlighted since November 27, four have been found,” said Graham.

“We’ve had tips from the public, one of our members identified and located one of the people and one of them actually turned themselves in after seeing the bulletin.”

Graham says the program was launched to bring attention to hard-to-catch offenders.

“The program was an idea that came from our plainclothes section, just to highlight people we were having trouble tracking down for arrest warrants,” said Graham.

Cranbrook RCMP extends its thanks to residents for their assistance.

“Having the public help us out gives us more eyes and ears, it’s so beneficial,” said Graham.

“Our time on the road is limited and just hoping you happen to find someone at a random place and time, it’s not always the best policy. Having the public help and in-tune with what’s going on in the community really helps our process a lot.”
