A Windermere home has sustained extensive damage following a fire just after 5pm on Friday night.
Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Chief Drew Sinclair say the building was fully engulfed in flames when the Windermere Fire Department arrived. The occupants of the home were able to get out safely, unfortunately they were unable to save the home.
A total of 13 firefighters responded to the fire from the Windermere Fire Department, along with 3 pieces of apparatus and a mutual aid tender from the Invermere Fire Department.
The fire was confined to the residence and firefighters remained on scene for several hours working to extinguish any hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
