Rash of thefts prompts lockup reminder

Police say the Columbia Valley was hit with a string of thefts from vehicles on Jan. 10, resulting in one vehicle also being stolen.

Columbia Valley RCMP says suspects then targeted unlocked vehicles in Canmore, Alberta.

Police were able to track some electronics stolen in Canmore and the vehicle stolen from the Columbia Valley was located in Calgary on Jan. 12.

None of the items stolen locally were located.

A similar theft took place on Jan. 11, when a chequebook was stolen from the vehicle of a 75-year-old Cranbrook man.

Cheques were cashed in banks in Trail to the amount of $2955.

Police are still looking for a suspect.

The RCMP says this is a good reminder to make sure your vehicle doors are locked and keys are not left in the vehicle.
