The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has been working on the 2025 budget and a public meeting will take place next month.
RDEK board chair Rob Gay says staff are trying to keep a tax increase as low as possible but like many communities, that will be a tough task.
“We set a day aside for it and staff have been working on it for over a month,” Gay said.
“Trying to keep the budget below 10 per cent I think is going to be a challenge. We certainly want to control our costs.”
Last year the overall tax effect of the adopted financial plan was an increase of 8.5 per cent.
The RDEK has scheduled their public budget meeting for Feb. 25.
