The winning ways for the Kimberley Dynamiters have continued in the new year with a 7-2 win against the Golden Rockets on Sunday.
Head coach Derek Stuart says it’s been a busy schedule coming out of the break.
“It was three games in less than 48 hours and since coming back from the break it was five games in 10 days,” he said.
This weekend they beat the Quesnel River Rush 4-3 in a shootout, lost to the Rockies 5-2 and scored a touchdown and the extra point conversion in a 7-2 matinee game in Golden.
“I thought the guys played really well minus a few lulls on Saturday in Invermere but I thought the overall performance this weekend and since the break has been great.”
He says they’ve had some key injuries on defence but the team has been coming together to get the job done.
“Our defenceman have stepped up,” he said.
“We’re missing two of our best defencemen and had an affiliate play all three games on the weekend and I thought our defensive core was really solid.”
The Dynamiters remain at the top of the Eddie Mountain Division but the Ghostriders have six games in hand.
