A Cranbrook man was named among the three people charged with the first-degree murder of a 34-year-old woman in Lethbridge.

Lethbridge Police officials say officers responded to a suspicious death report at a motel along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South on December 28, 2024.

Investigators found the body of a woman, who was later identified as Christina Webber, inside a ground-floor room.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division determined that two men and one woman, who were all known to Webber, entered her room and shot her on December 26, 2024.

“The interaction, involving a firearm, resulted in Webber’s death,” said Lethbridge Police.

“The three subjects removed property from the room and fled in an SUV, which was later parked along the 500 block of 7th Avenue South and set on fire.”

The Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary performed an autopsy on Webber’s body and determined her death to be a homicide.

Over the next few days, police executed search warrants at multiple properties around Lethbridge and apprehended the two men believed to be involved in the murder.

On December 29, police arrested 28-year-old Cranbrook resident Drew Austin Waters as he was leaving Lethbridge Correctional Centre after he was serving an unrelated weekend sentence.

Waters was charged with first-degree murder, arson to property, and possession of a prohibited firearm. He is due in court on January 27.

The second arrest was made on December 30, when police executed a warrant at a home along the 200 block of 19th Street North.

36-year-old Lethbridge resident Kyle Douglas Doddridge was in a short standoff with members of the Tactical Team before he was arrested.

Doddridge was charged with first-degree murder and arson to property. He is due in court on January 8.

Both men remain in custody, however, 23-year-old Pincher Creek resident Melissa Christelle Tidlund remains at large.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Tidlund and efforts to find her are still ongoing.

“Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24025352,” said Lethbridge Police.

“Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at www.p3tips.com or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information leading to an arrest”

Police officials say this was a targeted incident and they believe there is no further risk to the public.
