Kimberley referee Logan Marsh was given the Most Deserving Award, one of BC Hockey’s three officiating awards.

He was announced as the recipient in June, but he was handed the award on the ice at the Kimberley Dynamiters game on December 21.

“It was certainly something, it felt pretty special to me,” said Marsh.

“Getting handed the award from a good friend right on the ice in front of my friends and family was certainly a special occasion.”

The 15-year-old handles all of the officiating for minor hockey in Kimberley.

“My role as the Referee-in-Chief in Kimberley is to give feedback and advice to younger officials. Our group in Kimberley isn’t too large, we have about 20 officials and they’re all younger than me, except for my father,” said Marsh.

Marsh keeps busy during the season and says he officiates about 100 games each season.

“Logan has also been a vital part of our board, actively working to recruit and grow our team of officials. His professionalism, strong leadership, and dedication to the sport have earned him the respect and admiration of our entire hockey community,” said Kimberley Minor Hockey.

“Logan truly embodies what this award stands for. His tireless efforts on and off the ice, his excellent judgment, and his passion for hockey officiating make him more than deserving of this recognition. Congratulations, Logan, on this well-earned honour.”
