Invermere’s second annual Garden of Lights had its opening weekend on Friday and will be back again this coming weekend.
The event is put on by the Groundswell Network Society and features 40 plus decorated Christmas trees, food and live music.
“We have thousands of lights to see and decorations,” said Deborah Griffith with the Groundswell Network Society.
“Lots of food, fires and fun.”
Money raised from the event helps fund the society’s initiatives.
Griffith says they are all about food sustainability.
“Our mandate is to promote food sustainability and food security,” she said.
“We began with a 3,000-foot greenhouse and garden on the David Thompson Secondary School land. We’ve been working at feeding the community and teaching them how to feed themselves through gardening.”
Week two of the event takes place from Dec. 20-21.
Tickets can be purchased on the Groundswell Network Society website.
