Dynamiters return from tough road trip

The Kimberley Dynamiters are returning to home ice this weekend after two weeks on the road.

The Nitros split their last weekend games, losing 5-2 to the Grand Forks Border Bruins and beating the Spokane Braves 4-2.

Head coach Derek Stuart says he liked their effort through most of the weekend but wasn’t able to play a full 60 against Grand Forks.

“I liked our game for four of the six periods,” he said.

“Unfortunately we had a rough third period in Grand Forks and you can’t have an off period against that team. Overall I thought it was a pretty decent weekend and we’re through that tough stretch of five in a row on the road with four of them being against elite teams.”

Stuart says they need to be more consistent and if they can do that they should win both games this weekend.

“We’re going to focus on our actions and how we need to play our game,” he added.

“I think if we do that consistently for more than two periods we should get the result we want against both teams.”

The Dynamiters play the Golden Rockets on Friday followed by the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday.
