Back-to-back wins against the Golden Rockets over the weekend propelled the Fernie Ghostriders into second place in the Eddie Mountain Division.
Head coach Chad Scharff was pleased with their play last weekend but believes they can still be better.
“At the end of the day, we won both of them which is key with two games in our division,” he said.
“I still think we have more in us and can be better throughout the process and starting games the right way and finishing the right way.”
They’ll have their work cut out for them this weekend as they face the Revelstoke Grizzlies.
Scharff says Kimberley always seems to be the gold standard in the KIJHL, but it should really be Revelstoke.
“It seems that Kimberley for some reason is the benchmark to everyone in this league and if you beat Kimberley you’re a good team. I’m starting to scratch my head about that,” he said.
“Kimberley is a good team but at the end of the day, I don’t know why everyone thinks they are the benchmark. I look at it and say Revelstoke is the benchmark, they’re the best team in the league and have the best winning percentage.”
The Ghostriders will face them on Saturday, but will first play the Sicamous Eagles on Friday night.
The Ghostriders are 12-4-2-1 on the season with four games in hand.
