Sparwood sewer water rates are expected to increase by three per cent in 2025.
“The rates have been updated for three per cent for water, sewer and connection fees,” said CAO Michele Schalekamp.
Council has given the first three readings to the utility and solid waste management bylaw amendment.
If approved the rates will increase by three per cent every year until 2028.
Schalekamp says the rise in fees is due to inflationary costs.
“These increases have been calculated based on inflationary costs for these services,” she said.
Once the district finalizes the costs of upgrading the Waste Water Treatment Plan sewer rates will be reviewed together with the sewer parcel tax.
The bylaw will be up for adoption at the Dec. 17 council meeting.
