A tale of two Dynamiter teams

The Kimberley Dynamiters split their weekend games, but head coach Derek Stuart says it was like watching a different team.

“I saw two completely different Dynamiter teams this weekend,” he said.

They lost 6-3 to the Sicamous Eagles on Friday and Stuart says the score probably should have been a lot worse with how they played.

“Friday I think the score was a little flattering, to be honest,” he said.

“Sicamous kicked our ass and it could have been a lot worse. We just weren’t ready to play.”

Despite losing 3-2 in overtime to the Revelstoke Grizzlies, Stuart says they played great.

“Saturday was the complete opposite we controlled the game and out chanced Revelstoke,” he added.

“Hitting four posts was probably the difference because we were definitely the better team.”

The team will stay on the road this coming weekend as they face the Grand Forks Border Bruins and Spokane Braves.

“It will be our third straight game on the road on Friday against a legitimate championship contender in Grand Forks, so that will be a tough one similar to the last two,” he said.

“I think Spokane is a lot harder to play than their record shows. They might not have that many wins, but they are not an easy team to play.”

The Dynamiters are 14-6-3 on the season for first in the Eddie Mountain Division.
